Our built-in temperature tracking feature helps ensure that temperature-sensitive goods stay within the correct range during delivery. Gordon Driver connects to temperature sensors in the vehicle and shows real-time readings throughout the route.
In this guide, we'll go through the key concepts and steps in order to connect the temperature sensors and manage them during the route.
Starting the route
Install sensors in each vehicle or cargo space. Place them at 2–3 strategic locations to get representative readings (front, middle, back). If you’re using a sensor for the first time, make sure the plastic strip on the side is removed.
Connect sensor
Open ‘Gordon Driver’ as usual and select your route. Enter your vehicle registration number and move along. Next, you’re presented with a mandatory step to pair your phone with the sensors.
Depending on the order items, you might have one or multiple temperature zones. Select the temperature zone for each sensor and place your phone at a close distance from the sensor. Wait until the app confirms that the connection is established and that temperature data is synced.
Note: If you have issues connecting to a sensor, contact your back office support.
Edit sensor
To edit a sensor, press on the sensor name and select 'Edit sensor'. From there, you can change the temperature zone and select if it's a chilled or frozen sensor. Press 'Save' and you're done.
Delete sensor
To delete a sensor, press on the sensor name and select 'Remove sensor'. Confirm that you want to remove the sensor.
During the route
In the route overview, you have easy access to the current temperature of each temperature zone. You can also see how many sensors are connected and if there are any issues.
Temperature overview
For more detailed information, you can view a real-time temperature graph. The graph is accessible both by clicking on the sensor information in the route overview and from the menu.
Deviation notifications
As a driver, you can also get real-time notification when a deviation occurs. This means that you don’t actively need to monitor the exact temperature at every time.
Note: Make sure to enable push notifications in the app settings to get instant updates once the temperature is outside the accepted range.
Common issues
Bluetooth disconnected. Make sure to reconnect the sensors in order to move along with the route.
Sensor not sending data. Check that the sensor has battery, an OK status, and when your received data the last time. Check with your back office support if the issue persists.
Note: If the connection drops temporarily (i.e. when delivering to a customer ), data is stored by the sensor and synced once the connection is restored.
After the route
When the route is completed, you complete it as usual. All temperature data from the route is saved and no further action is needed. Your back office colleagues can review the full log if needed.
