🗃️ What is a version?
Versioning, or version management, allows users to create different versions of the same batch, without the need to delete the progress.
This will help users save time since they can make small changes in a fast and simple way. It also helps route planners to further optimise the routes. Switching between the different versions gives a good understanding of whether the result is considered good or bad.
📂 Use cases
There are multiple different reasons and use cases to create new versions.
🙅 Unsatisfied with result
Users feel there’s room for minor improvements and want to make tweaks to the batch. This could include reducing the service time or adjusting vehicle availability to change the outcome.
🚀 Include more orders
Users see a potential to add more orders to the batch since the vehicles can handle more capacity and still have driving time left.
🚫 Invalid batch result
Users are faced with an invalid batch result, for example unassigned orders. It’s easy to add a new version, increase the number of vehicles (or change their availability) so that they are able to fit in the unassigned orders.
How to add a new version
Press Add new version. This will prompt the left-side panel, which is where you’ll make the desired changes, as described below. You can always cancel your progress by pressing the close button (X). No changes will be saved until you’ve created a new version.
Include orders
If there are unrouted orders, we’ll highlight this in an infobox. Select Include all unrouted orders or filter based on time window and/or delivery group. There’s currently no way to individually select specific orders (i.e. Lasso tool).
Update service time
Adjust service time and make tweaks that could have a positive impact on the outcome. You can also activate or deactivate Dynamic service time.
Update vehicles
This works in the same way as when you create a new batch. Here you can add new vehicles, adjust start/end time, add an end address, and remove the breaks.
Start routing
Initiate the new version by pressing Start routing. This will create a new version to the existing batch.
Review result
You can now review the result and compare the different versions. Select the version you want to dive into in the dropdown. We’ll also highlight the version with the highest efficiency (Best DPH).
Approve the batch
Select the version you want to continue with. Press Approve and your batch is confirmed and ready for assigning drivers.
