Our temperature tracking feature allows operations teams to monitor the temperature inside delivery vehicles in real time, detect deviations, and analyse historical data. This helps ensure that temperature-sensitive goods reach customers within acceptable temperature ranges.

Users in the platform can:

  • Define acceptable temperature zones and thresholds

  • See live temperature updates for active routes

  • Receive alerts when the temperature deviates

  • Investigate deviations and support drivers

  • Access historical logs and analytics for quality assurance

Note: For more information on the driver experience and what information and notifications that are available to them, check out this article.

ℹ️ Before you can get started

Contact Gordon to purchase your temperature sensors.

Install sensors in each vehicle or cargo space. Place them at 2–3 strategic locations to get representative readings (front, middle, back).

You might need more sensors if you have multiple temperature zones.

✅ Activate temperature tracking

Temperature tracking is enabled per depot and can be found under ‘Depot settings’. This will activate the temperature feature on all routes that starts from the depot.

Navigate to 'Account' -> 'Depots' and select the depot you’d like to activate. Scroll down to ‘Driver App Settings’ and press ‘Edit’. Clock on the toggle to activate ‘Require temperature sensors registration step’. Don't forget to press 'Save changes' before your done.

Note: Drivers might need to refresh the route or restart the app in order to see the temperature registration step.

⚙️ How to manage from Gordon Cloud

As a user in Gordon Cloud, there are a few actions you can do to help the drivers.

🔀 Change temperature zones

Go to the route, select ‘Insights’ tab and scroll down to 'Connected sensors'. In the column 'Type' you have a dropdown available and you can easily change the type of sensor from chilled to frozen. This could be if the driver accidentally pairs a sensor to the wrong temperature zone.

⚖️ Remove sensor requirement

Connecting to the sensors are a required step for the driver in order to move on with the route. You can go in to the route, select ‘Update route’ and then unselect the checkbox for 'Chilled sensor required' or 'Frozen sensor required' depending on the issue.

⚠️ Temperature deviations

By using our temperature control feature, you can monitor and track temperature, in real-time. Most of this work is done from 'Activity' We have created two deviation filters that will notify a user if there's an issue with the temperature.

  • Temp deviation. The temperature on the route is outside the accepted range for one or multiple temperature zones. Go into the affected route and look at detailed temperature data to determine the next course of action.

  • Temp missing. There's no connection between the sensors and the driver app on the specific route. This could be a temporary issue, i.e. when the driver is performing a delivery and is too far away from the vehicle. Don't worry, all data is saved and will be backfilled once connection is established.

Note: In Activity, we also have a column for each route, specifying the current temperature of the route.

📊 Insights and analytics

As a user, you're able to get detailed analytics and insights in a per-route basis. Select the route you wish to focus on and click 'Insights'.

Here, you have a section. The graph provides a visual overview of the temperature readings collected from one or more sensors during the route. It helps users quickly verify that goods remained within the acceptable temperature range throughout transport.

  • A teal-coloured line displaying the temperature at specific times.

  • An orange area indicating the accepted temperature range.

  • Red dotted lines to highlight connectivity issues.

Note: Use the 'Download CSV' button in the top-right corner to export the temperature data for further analysis and QA documentation.
