Planning is truly the heart of the operations in Gordon Last Mile Platform. Here you can plan and route imported orders and prepare them for delivery. In order to use this module, you need to have user-level access to the Planning module in Last Mile. Here is a summary of the different sections.

The difference between a route and a batch

A route can be described as a driver's shift. It is a string of deliveries put together in a chain to be as effective as possible. The complexity/duration of each route depends on the total amount of orders and available time windows.

A batch is a collection of routes created by our route optimisation engine. Each batch may contain one or multiple routes depending on the total number of orders. Our platform provides a great overview of your route(s) on a per-batch basis.

Route overview

Depot

List of all available depots with an order ready to be routed. You can only route one depot at a time.

Delivery Group

List all available delivery groups that have an order ready to be routed. You can select several delivery groups to route in the same batch.

Time Window

List of possible time windows that have an order ready to be routed. You can select several time windows to route in the same batch.

Lasso Tool

An interactive tool that lets you select a geographical area on a map. The Lasso tool identifies what orders, within that given area, are available for routing to be routed.

Settings

This section allows you to set a batch name, service type, and capacity type.

  • Batch name. Enter a batch name so that you can easily find your routes. All routes within a batch will have the same base followed by an individual number, for example, "GCF 12”.

  • Service time. Set a default service time (from ”Arrived” to ”Delivered”). This is particularly important when delivering to new addresses. Our platform uses machine learning and will automatically add service time to previously known stops.

  • Capacity type. Let the platform know if you like to base the routing calculations on count (number of orders), weight, or items.

Vehicles

Add the desired number of vehicles needed for the batch. You can either use a saved preset or create new vehicles.

  • Confirmed - List of batches that have been confirmed and pushed to activity.

Batch summary

  • Routes - Total number of routes

  • Stops - Total number of stops

  • S / H - Stops per hour

  • S / R - Stops per route

  • Km - Total driving distance (km)
